Electronic Tour Guide Project
Our flagship application is the Electronic Tour Guide, originally developed by two groups of students in our major design class (see student projects). The application runs on the PocketPC platform, and provides users with a "you are here" view of their current location, hyperlinks to nearby rooms, and a direction finder feature to help them find another room from their current location, and direct them there. It has data for the CSE building.
To keep the information for the tour up-to-date, it is stored on our tour guide Wiki. Local tour data is built from the Wiki data and loaded onto the PDA, and hyperlinks connect to pages in the Wiki.
The tour guide software was originally written by Scott Caesar, Jared Chenkin, Jason Kriesel, Michael Mroch, Phil Nash, Jeffrey Parker, and Seneca Rapson. Since then, significant updates have been made by Scott Gifford, Misha Somov, and Jeffrey Parker. Currently, the primary maintainer is Scott Gifford.
