Location Privacy

A focus of our work on location awareness has been on privacy. A user's location information is very personal, and when handling it we have to take great care to ensure it is not disseminated against their wishes.

To enforce this, our middleware server enforces privacy policies which determine the circumstances under which a user's location information will be shared.

An earlier version of our policy engine was released as the CPOL high-performance policy evaluation system, created by Kevin Borders, Xin Zhao, and Prof. Atul Prakash.
